2020-21 City of Las Vegas Neighborhood Revitalization VISTA

The City of Las Vegas AmeriCorps VISTA Program supports the planning and implementation of neighborhood revitalization initiatives in our communities. Efforts utilize a high-impact service strategy in which the City's Office of Community Services engages community members in revitalizing their neighborhoods through neighborhood association activities, volunteerism and other meaningful civic engagement activities. VISTAs will build the capacity of neighborhoods to address blight and other issues that impact economic and civic vitality. The objective of the Neighborhood Revitalization VISTA project is to cultivate partnerships among stakeholders including; community organizations, city agencies, nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, and block groups who can build capacity and serve as volunteers for neighborhood revitalization projects. As a VISTA, your service will start on December 7, 2020 and end on December 7, 2021. During this time, you will be a full-time member (40 hours a week) and report to work at Las Vegas City Hall. You will also receive the logistic and supervisory support from CLV staff and will be eligible to participate in all CLV professional development and organizational health trainings. As a VISTA, you are entitled to 10 personal days off for vacation and 10 medical days. For VISTA members serving in Clark County, you will earn a living allowance of $513.94 per pay period. In addition, for successfully completing your year of service, you have the option to be eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or the VISTA end-of-service cash stipend. The value of the education award is $6,095.00. The value of the end-of-year cash stipend is approximately $1,800.00.
