2015-16 Habitat Fund Development VISTA, Baraboo, WI

Nearly 20% of Wisconsin residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. With a large and growing need for affordable housing in our state, the 40 local Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Wisconsin are working hard to address that need by partnering with low-income families to build, rehab or repair homes. Habitat for Humanity's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and we believe in the value of home ownership, both for Wisconsin's families and for the communities in which they live. Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin (HHW) exists to support Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the state of Wisconsin in a coordinated effort to eliminate substandard housing. Our goal is to strengthen affiliates and increase capacity, which ultimately benefits low income families in our state. Our statewide VISTA project will help local affiliates build capacity within their organizations and assist them in serving more low income families, providing decent, affordable housing to help families build wealth and break the cycle of poverty, for themselves and future generations.

Member Duties : This position will focus on generating additional funds for the affiliate and ReStore through grant writing, improving HFHSCA's visibility within the community, strengthening the role of the board and committees in fund development, and by improving and expanding events and fundraisers sponsored by HFHSCA. Activites include: identifying new sources of funding for HFHSCA, including governmental and private grants; working with staff to improve marketing and increase community awareness of HFHSCA; helping staff promote, expand, and coordinate fundraisers; working to increase the number of donations from private individuals; and strengthening the role of the Fund Development Committee.
