Member Duties : The goal of the Mission: St. Louis is to eradicate poverty through empowering low-income individuals to be leaders in their lives, families and neighborhoods. We focus on our efforts within the city of St. Louis, where there is a 28.8% poverty rate. The Research & Data VISTA member will build capacity by ensuring programs are supported by research (evidence-based), regularly evaluated (accurately and effectively tracked), and through grant research and writing for at least 200 low-income people in St. Louis, MO. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, impoverished individuals will increase their chance of being economically self-sufficient and contributing to their success in life (breaking free of poverty).
