Idaho Youth Ranch Learning & Development Training Specialist

Childhood trauma can have serious, lasting impacts on mental health. Traumatic events, also known as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), can have many profound effects on childhood development. If left untreated, these changes can result in unshakable feelings of terror, depression, and helplessness. Data in Idaho has shown that the more ACEs an Idahoan has the more likely they are to live below the poverty line. Idaho Youth Ranch is here to help youth and families, overcome these difficult experiences and reduce poverty by providing services that transforming pain into strength, fear into confidence, and trauma into resilience. The VISTA project will collaborate with agency supervisors to identify and design training tools for staff throughout the organization, as well as client materials. They will also develop dynamic relationships with the community, especially universities, to partner with us in creating instructional design materials. The The Learning and Development VISTA will help support these efforts by increasing agency and community awareness by developing training and curriculum to support agency efforts and education. The VISTA will collaborate with agency teams to design and implement onboarding, training, retention and feedback tools for new hires and staff development.
