The Northern New England Campus Compact VISTA Program is focused on the development of programming on campuses across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont that will increase access to higher education for low income individuals by providing programming focused on improving college aspirations, increasing the belief that college is an option and increasing access to higher education for low income individuals seeking higher education. CCNH is currently recruiting for a team VISTAs to serve at host sites across the state to achieve these goals.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA for the Career Development Office will support, guide, pilot and assess the launch of new career initiatives and determine appropriate mechanisms and interventions to support our first-generation and low-income students in these initiatives. The VISTA’s work will focus on the Career Readiness Roadmap program that will be introduced to incoming new students in Fall 2019. This program will provide guided career-based milestones for students to intentionally engage in career exploration and planning, from new-student orientation. Sample milestones include demystifying the process of building a professional network, resume writing, exploring career paths, building professional communication skills, and job shadowing for low-income, first-generation students. The VISTA will plan specific programming and resources to support this population and continuously assess their development and track engagement over the course of the academic year.
