Community Engagement Design & Training Specialist
 
 
 
The City of Durham’s Community Engagement Team helps make sure underrepresented groups have fair participation in making policies and decisions that affect their communities. This includes working with other City staff to improve how they do engagement. As the Community Engagement Design & Training Specialist, this position will develop tools and training – in close partnership with the City Engagement Consulting Manager. Here's the experience you’ll gain from this work: Equitable community engagement methods, Relationship and partnership building, How to develop / design tools and training, Research and analysis, Content creation and media strategy, Consulting practices, Project management Flexible hybrid work schedule, with occasional required in-person time. Member Duties : The first piece of your work will be to help City departments to put the Equitable Community Engagement Blueprint into use. This includes identifying and reporting department or community needs, helping other departments to improve their community engagement projects, and working with a staff group to develop and recommend changes to City policies. The second piece of this work is focused on developing training. You will create and/or organize training for City staff and community members. The third piece of your work will be to develop tools, which includes developing easy-to-understand content, materials, and tools, researching and reporting promising practices and methods, and documenting lessons learned from engagement work.
