HACP - Move to Work

The HACP team is a nationally recognized housing authority with a mission to not only provide housing but to encourage personal growth with an emphasis on self-sufficiency. The Housing Authority of the City of Pocatello (aka Housing Alliance and Community Partnerships) is working under the designation of Moving to Work. This designation was granted in 2021, and will continue indefinitely, but requires annual policy updates. During the coming year(s) we will be developing, critiquing, and improving this new program designed to focus on 3 areas: 1) moving households from poverty into self-sufficiency 2) achieve greater cost effectiveness in federal expenditures and 3) increase housing choices for low-income households.

Member Duties : The role of the Vista will be program content. This will involve developing and strengthening partnerships, facilitating community discussions for input on the plan, ensuring all segments of population are heard in its development, updates to the plan and accompanying policies and processes, implementation of plan, and tracking outcome goals and a scoring system to demonstrate level of goal achievement. While that sounds like a lot (and it is), it is a step-by-step process designed to create a strong and long-lasting program that will have a significant impact on the community and the households served. The focus of this position will be the updates to the plan and supporting the efforts of the of a skills development center. HACP has signed partnership agreements with United Way, ISU, Dept of Labor, local banks, employers, healthcare organizations, and more. The Vista’s work with this group will lead to a dynamic center that will boost households out of poverty.
