AmeriCorps VISTA Community Nutrition Volunteer Coordinator

Are you a self-motivated and community-focused professional who would like to help build a program to train volunteers in food pantries to help families with community resources and reduce food insecurity? If so, we are excited to meet you and discuss our vision for launching a Master Food Pantry Volunteer Program in the state of Arizona through the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Program! The UA Wildcat Corps VISTA project aims to empower low-income communities in Arizona by addressing critical poverty-related challenges through community-driven solutions. It will build on and leverage the capacity of Cooperative Extension to reach low-income communities by developing a volunteer recruitment, training, and management program focused on four key areas. Our approach is designed to involve the community at every stage, to ensure long-term sustainability, and to ultimately help lift individuals out of poverty.

Member Duties : The member will help develop marketing and programmatic materials, provide simulation trainings regionally, and organize a volunteer recruitment and reporting protocol to support volunteers who work in food pantries across the state of Arizona. Develop strategic plans of action that address current and future needs; and potential growth opportunities to expand the scope and reach of family and consumer health science programing, particularly around food pantry workers.
