Community and Civic Action VISTA WVU
 
 
 
The Community and Civic Action VISTA will work to build capacity for community engagement programs at WVU. This position will focus on developing initiatives that address community needs while encouraging student involvement in local service projects. By deepening a culture of community engagement, the VISTA member will help break the cycle of poverty by empowering students and community members with the skills and resources needed for sustainable development. The VISTA will build capacity by creating and implementing volunteer programs, forming partnerships, and securing resources to support community engagement initiatives. The result will be a robust volunteer management system and strengthened university-community partnerships.

Member Duties : Form relationships with 5 new community partners and strengthen communication logistics with 15 current community organizations. Develop and implement a Volunteer Recruitment and Management System that will extend to a minimum of 10 colleges. Form relationships with 5 new community partners and strengthen communication logistics with 15 current community organizations. Secure resources (in kind) and funding (no less that 10,000) for community engagement programs that support P2A students, student volunteers or community partners.
