Catholic Community Services Alitas Program Coordinator
 
 
 
Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona is a not for profit health and human services organization serving the 9 counties in Southern Arizona for over 80 years. CCS serves over 100,000 persons each year in programs such as adoptions, early childhood education, child welfare, services to older adults, health and dental care for the uninsured, asset development for low income families, services to persons with disabilities and those who are Deaf and Deaf Blind, immigration assistance, refugee assistance, support to those in prison, case management, counseling, basic needs assistance, housing for homeless families and older adults. CCS, through the Alitas Program, is continuing to provide assistance to the individuals released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody who are traveling through Tucson on their way to other parts of the country to join family members, and aid unaccompanied minors aging out of a shelter program who are transitioning to more permanent housing options. This is a 30 hr/week position contracted through August 31st, 2016. Flexible availability between 7am-7pm Monday through Friday is required. Please apply immediately!

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Member will respond to calls from ICE, be present at Casa Alitas to receive immigrants, complete intake form for new arrivals, assist them with contacting their family members in the U.S., give instructions to family members on purchasing Greyhound tickets for the women and children, provide a basic explanation of the legal process and a list of legal resources near their final destination, provide immigrants with food, clothing, toiletries, a chance to bathe, a bed (if needed), transportation to the Greyhound Station, and other services as needed, provide service and activity support for youth and pregnant women who are residing at the Alitas house, be present at Casa Alitas to receive youth released through Florence Project and welcome them into the home, facilitate and/or participate in activities with the youth and women including community-based events and services and provide overnight house supervision as needed.
