Fresno Career Development Institute, Inc. (FCDI) will help low income people develop self sufficiency through quality education, meaningful employment, customized training and community involvement. Vision Fresno Career Development Institute Inc. is committed to creating an economically self-sufficient workforce for diverse populations in the Central San Joaquin Valley. FCDI has provided workforce services to the community through quality education, employment, training, and community leadership since 1992. There is a 7-member Board of Directors with four members having served for nearly 20 years. Originally, FCDI provided workforce and educational programming to youth and adults. Our latest project includes a partnership with 4 charter schools and multiple non-profits and businesses to offer youth job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and employment and training opportunities to meet their career pathway goals.

Member Duties : Fresno Career Development Institute Workforce Specialist VISTAs will be responsible for: - Developing relationships with minority-owned construction companies, for the purpose of filling their job openings. - Creating a system to match employer needs with participants enrolled in FCDI’s- Valley Apprenticeship Connections program. - Informing and providing employers with all relative Hiring Tax Incentives and Bonding opportunities to benefit the employers being served. - Assisting in developing templates for job descriptions, job screening and applicant preparation. - Finding resources for participants supportive service needs for tools, clothing and initial transportation needs.
