AmeriCorps Civic Action Fellows

The Cal State LA/SELA Civic Action Fellows Program will virtually provide capacity-building assistance with community-based organizations in the Southeast Los Angeles (“SELA”) corridor. The SELA Collaborative is a network of organizations working together to strengthen the capacity of the nonprofit sector and increase civic engagement in Southeast LA. Founded in 2011 by eleven core organizations, the SELA Collaborative seeks to revitalize the communities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Florence-Firestone, Huntington Park, Lynwood, Maywood, South Gate, Vernon, and Walnut Park. Civic Action Fellows will serve with one of 11 SELA organizations. Fellows will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, but will receive on-going supervision, support, and training. Civic Action Fellows will help to strengthen the capacity of the SELA organization by focusing on projects that can be completed remotely and independently while helping the agencies bolster key areas such: data collection and analysis; website development; social media development; marketing campaigns; and management; public education and awareness campaigns; volunteer management; project development; and other priority areas that SELA organizations may identify as a priority need.
