2017 Parent and Community Engagement Coordinator-826 Boston
 
 
 
826 National will work with AmeriCorps*VISTA members to build the organization’s capacity to serve under-resourced students (ages 6-18) in seven urban areas across the country where we have writing/tutoring centers and provide homework assistance (San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago and New York). Additionally, 826 National will deploy AmeriCorps*VISTA members to work directly in our centers to provide for the sustainability of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts; conduct development activities, and support in-school and on-site program and program expansion efforts to provide field trips, scholarships and summer programs for under-resourced youth.

Member Duties : VISTA member will evaluate, monitor, and increase volunteer efficacy. Member will coordinate Field Trip (FT) Program and design a selection criteria for schools requesting field trips in order to serve the highest-needs schools. Member will also : support the Workshop Program to sustain student learning during vacation weeks and introduce new participants to 826 Boston’s programs. Additionally, member will refine and conduct book publishing process with after-school students to showcase the work of student authors and bestow a pride of authorship for students. Lastly, the member increase and monitor parent, student, and community program participation and input into program design and initiatives.
