VIP Fellows will be placed at established community nonprofit and educational organizations providing services to our community’s children and families. This position is responsible for improving the capacity of the placement site to attract and utilize high value (skilled and corporate) volunteers in order to increase services to the community. Over the course of the 1700-hour term, each VIP Fellow will recruit, train, and retain about 50 volunteers; build business partnerships for financial and volunteer support of service activities; and build capacity within the Partner Site volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful. As a VIP Fellow, you will be part of a team serving in different agencies throughout our community. You will build a legacy of volunteer infrastructure that will allow your partner site to provide services for years to come. You will spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, their families, and the local community. The Mission of United Way Monterey County (UWMC) is to engage the community and focus resources to improve lives in Monterey County. UWMC is seeking an AmeriCorps VIP Fellow that will provide program support for the following: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), Volunteer Center database capacity building, and corporate volunteer engagement. VIP candidates should have interest or experience in working with underserved populations, financial counseling, and volunteer stewardship. Members will gain valuable experience in volunteer program administration, public outreach, and database management.

Member Duties : Scope of Work: Volunteer Program Capacity Building • Capacity building: program development for UWMC, working to build capacity of high value volunter programs, specifically for the VITA program and business partnerships. • Community outreach: presentations, public speaking, and outreach event activities. • Volunteer recruitment: including online recruitment, scheduling, and follow ups. • Volunteer stewardship: recruitment support, training, and recognition events. Volunteer Tax Site Support • Maintain organized system of VITA site support. Including material, and program supply inventory. • Distribution of materials and snacks to sites for volunteers and tax site managers. • Data collection at sites, as needed: timesheets, demographic data, and forms. Database Adminstration and Analysis • Database support for the Volunteer Center, including volunteer hour tracking, and creation of impact volunteer engagement opportunities. • Program analysis and measurement.
