The team fights poverty by working with residents, businesses, & other partners to address neighborhood issues & needs, strengthen the social fabric & safety of the neighborhoods, & build capacity & sustainability. Members also help improve educational outcomes for students at 4 high-need elementary schools in the Renton School District. The team works with partners to build system-wide capacity & support & engage parents & community members to help break the cycle of poverty through educational engagement & academic achievements. In 2019 the Renton VISTA team will have members located at 5 different agencies (the City of Renton, Renton Housing Authority, Neighborhood House, Renton School District, & Community in Schools of Renton).
