Opportunity Council - Volunteer Outreach & Development Coord

Lydia Place is a non-profit community based organization that serves homeless families in Whatcom County. The agency provides transitional and permanent supportive housing along with intensive case management, education, advocacy and life skills classes in order to provide a pathway out of poverty. Crucial funds are raised through events and a community thrift store to meet the agency's goals of serving families in need. Volunteers are at the heart of making the events and thrift store successful at raising these funds every year. This position will be vital in the following three areas of the agency's growth and expansion for providing high quality services to clients in need through: 1. Building, evaluating and expanding a sustainable Lydia Place/ Wise Buys Volunteer Program to increase volunteer recruitment and streamline orientation and onboarding process. Expansion of this pivotal program will afford Lydia Place with the capacity to support the over 300 families served each year through housing, case management and education programs and works to fulfill our mission to end homelessness in our community. 2. Increasing agency-wide Volunteer retention by 50% and in-turn grow the Lydia Place/Wise Buys Volunteer Program; building agency capacity to serve homeless individuals and families and improve the relationship between Volunteers, Staff and the community. 3. Performing preliminary research for an internal vocational program that would provide Lydia Place clients with work experience and training by way of the community thrift store, Wise Buys. This program would be an expansion of an agency goal to provide Lydia Place clients with opportunities for career advancement and training, and contributes to our mission to provide education and advocacy for the individuals and families we serve.
