Summer Associate-Agriculture/Health Program Assistant
 
 
 
Fayetteville State University's Office of College Access Programs mission is to encourage and assist youth who are traditionally under-represented in post-secondary education with preparation for, entry into, and completion of a post-secondary education. The office comprises of Talent Search (TRiO), Upward Bound Math & Science, 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Upward Bound (TRiO), which are federally funded college access programs. The Office provides a broad range of high-quality college preparatory services to support students, parents, and educators. In partnership with Sustainable Sandhills, a local nonprofit that provides programs that focus on Local Food, Green Schools & Education, Air Quality Awareness, Green Business Certification, and Environmental Action; the Office of College Access Programs seeks to provide program participants with increasing awareness of how locally grown food impacts our economy and the importance of nutrition. The daily work-site will be at Sustainable Sandhills.

Member Duties : Provide support by providing agriculture education for summer camp youth in Cumberland County; coordinating farm and garden tours, scheduling guest speakers on nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and beekeeping; assisting campers in creating their own Farmers Market vendor “brand”; creating STEM related activities in regards to gardening and farm operations. The daily work-site will be at Sustainable Sandhills.
