2024-2025 Development Associate VISTA (NYC)

Founded 40 years ago as the New York Asian Women’s Center and renamed in 2017, Womankind works tirelessly to create a future where we Rise Above Violence and our communities can innovate towards collective well-being, restoration, and social justice. Womankind uses the multidimensionality of its Asian heritage to work alongside survivors of gender-based violence as they build a path to healing. All services are rooted in Womankind’s philosophy of supporting survivors’ rights to self-determination and self-sufficiency in building their futures (i.e., their own agency). Womankind is one of the largest Asian-focused domestic violence organizations in the United States and is a leader in providing innovative and award-winning multilingual and culturally responsive services. Womankind offers a wide variety of services in 18+ Asian languages and dialects, including: a toll-free 24/7 multilingual helpline, safe and confidential emergency residences (shelters), counseling, family law and immigration legal assistance, wellness activities, creative arts therapy, support groups, and economic empowerment workshops.

Member Duties : The VISTA project's goal is increasing the capacity of Womankind’s development department, specifically of systems that handle in-kind, local and corporate donations. As a result, we expect to see an increase in the number of local prospects, corporate prospects and in-kind donors- all of which will increase overall fundraising and resource generation. Relationships with donors will be strengthened and systems for handling these donations will be enhanced. The VISTA will: 1. Assess Womankind’s current system for soliciting and managing local and in-kind donations, 2. Assess current system(s) for prospecting and managing corporate donors- within Development department (which includes dotted lines to board committees, CEO’s efforts, etc.), 3. (Re)design and launch new system(s) and/or tools for both local/in-kind and corporate donor management, and 4. Train Womankind staff (development and operations) on new tools/procedures.
