Achievement First Student Program Coord. VISTA (Rhode Island

This program is a great choice for people who are interested in working with amazing students and devoted colleagues. The Achievement First network of schools serves approximately 15,000 students in NY, CT, and RI. Achievement First schools run K-12 and offer students from all backgrounds a quality college-bound education. You will not find a more dedicated group of staff, students, and families, all working to get amazing kids to and through college. The Achievement First Student Programs Coordinator VISTA role can be in person or telecommute. This VISTA will work with an individual school in the beautiful and diverse city of Providence, RI. These full-time positions work within schools to build capacity in specific areas targeted to maximize student success. The student programs coordinator position brings joy and engagement to the school community by building a repertoire of student events and engagement strategies to get students interested in and excited about schools. After-school programs, clubs, community service opportunities, extra academic tutoring, and parent engagement are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this role.

Member Duties : VISTA members will build organizational capacity by creating programming for topics such as attendance interventions, student life, college access, community engagement, parent engagement, community service, tutoring, food and transportation access, and more. These roles work on school operations teams whose job it is to facilitate the functioning of an entire school. A VISTA’s capacity-building work would greatly improve the team’s ability to better serve students.
