Midian Leadership Project Health and Fitness VISTA
 
 
 
The Midian Leadership Project is a sports-based community development. organization located on the West Side of Charleston, WV. Founded by former. high school athletes, the Project operates a community center that offers. recreation, education support, and leadership development, as well as offering trauma-informed coaching strategies through partnerships with local school sports teams. We are in a major growth phase, and as we implement a major staffing and programming grant through a local health organization, we are. seeking a VISTA candidate who will develop and implement nutrition and fitness programming within our community center and its associated school and recreational sports teams. This year of service will offer opportunities to develop organizational, leadership, and people skills, as well as learn about the workings of nonprofits, grant management, and community development leadership in an urban setting.

Member Duties : Our VISTA at Midian Leadership will be part of the 24-25 Up2Us Sports VISTA nationwide cohort. Duties include: The core duties of this role include developing an understanding of Midian’s programming, grant funding, staff, and sports programming The VISTA will collaborate with the Executive Director, Chief Operations Officer, and leadership team in order to ensure that nutrition and fitness programs are offered to participating youth, and that the systems of delivery, including food delivery, meet appropriate codes and procedures. The VISTA’s work will enable the growth and sustainability of a major community development enterprise that benefits hundreds of youths and young adults each year.
