Fayetteville State University's Office of College Access Programs mission is to encourage and assist youth who are traditionally under-represented in post-secondary education with preparation for, entry into, and completion of a post-secondary education. The office comprises of Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP), Educational Talent Search (TRiO), Upward Bound (TRiO), Upward Bound Math & Science (TRiO), and 21st Century Community Learning Center. The Office provides a broad range of high-quality college preparatory services to students, parents, and educators.

Member Duties : The parental involvement specialist primary objective is to support parent involvement in the education of Fayetteville students. The parental involvement specialist will assist in piloting and evaluating the newly established parent institute that seeks to increase parental involvement in local target schools; develop best practices for serving parents in the target areas; conduct telephone surveys and focus groups to learn parents' perceptions of school involvement; coordinate with target school's PTA/PSTO's to provide strategies for developing family-friendly school climate based on parents' ideas; develop creative strategies to target hard to reach parents; develop a marketing plan for parenting services that includes social media marketing; and collaborate with VISTA Volunteer Coordinator to develop a parent advisory committee.
