Woodcraft Rangers Strategy Associate VISTA

Woodcraft Rangers seeks to guide young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives. We achieve this through the implementation of the Woodcraft Way, which informs our approach of whole child development. The Woodcraft Way defines that we must believe every child is innately good, deserves the opportunity to realize their full potential, and be an active participant in defining their own path. Additionally, The Woodcraft Way ensures that our work helps young people grow their minds, bodies, spirits, and sense of commitment to service. This informs the work we do each day and makes the service of Woodcraft Rangers not only unique but intentionally crafted to support effective youth development. Woodcraft Rangers provides afterschool and summer enrichment programs to students in over 80 different schools across Los Angeles County. Our offices are centrally located in the Little Tokyo community and easily accessible by car and all modes of public transportation. As a VISTA with Woodcraft Rangers, you will be part of a diverse team of dedicated professionals focused on creating equity within education and youth development. You will learn about research-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices and trauma-informed/healing centered engagement strategies. You will also support and interact with school-based clubs and staff in a variety of subject matters including STEM, sports, art, music, dance, and more. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about working in youth centered spaces and looking to grow in their skillset in building systems such as: outreach, development, strategy, and public relations. VISTA members will be provided with a computer and access to any additional programs or equipment necessary to successfully complete this role. Some travel between school sites and for events may be required or asked upon as part of the position.
