Sustainable Tourism Coordinator – Anchorage

The VISTA will work with the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) to grow the Alaskan tourism workforce and provide economic development strategies for low income individuals wanting to become part of Alaska’s tourism industry. The Sustainable Tourism Coordinator will focus on the development of an online training certificate program. The VISTA will partner with leaders of the tourism industry and business owners to help make a relevant, educational and accessible online training for those wanting to bring legitimacy to their tourism endeavors. The tourism industry helps create jobs for those in rural and remote parts of Alaska as well as bring in tourism which helps support local business and crafts makers. The tourism industry helps generate entry level jobs for those living in high unemployment areas of Alaska. ATIA’s online certificate program will deliver cutting edge training in tourism for those wanting to become part of or start their own tourism business. Alaska is full of beauty and adventure, for some what will be a once in a lifetime experience in Alaska will be someone else’s monetary living for a whole year.
