City of Lancaster, Mayor's Office Language Access VISTA
 
 
 
The Language Access Team manages and develops language resources to ensure that communications efforts address language barriers and reach the linguistically and culturally diverse neighborhoods across the city. The VISTA assignment is to: improve delivery of language services, develop volunteer language bank, develop and launch a Language Access dashboard. • 18 years old • US Citizens, nationals, or legal residents • Successfully complete a criminal background check. • VISTA is a full-time commitment • Political advocacy, organizing or demonstrating while on VISTA duty, or while perceived to be on duty, is prohibited • Permits part-time employment and attendance at school during off hour

Member Duties : The Language Access (LA) VISTA will serve as a program coordinator in identifying key language access tools, develop and implement training programs and review policies and draft communications guidelines. In addition, LA VISTA will develop a community volunteer bank of translators and track metrics for the program. LA VISTA will also work directly with Language Services Coordinator in identifying bi-lingual city staff in order to develop and internal working group focused on improving language access. The LA VISTA will oversee and plan with the Mayor's office of communications all WELCOMING WEEK (September) activities.
