All Ways Up - 826LA Volunteer Outreach Support SA
 
 
 
826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around our understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. The overriding goal of this project is to support volunteer outreach activities to secure sufficient volunteers to help students from economically disadvantaged communities, primarily from Title I schools, to become confident writers, enthusiastic readers, strong communicators, and published authors.

Member Duties : 1) Supporting volunteer outreach for Write On! Workshop (WO!W): Working with 826LA staff to develop and share positions description and online postings for Write On! Workshop (WO!W) volunteers; Recruiting and managing enrollment of volunteers to support at least 100 students; Supporting training and resource development for volunteers; With 826LA staff, supporting the creation of student publications; Distributing and tabulating evaluations at the end of summer. 2) Assisting with Outreach & Support: Writing and editing blog entries related to WO!W and being a Summer Associate for the 826LA website; Writing copy for social media outlets to maximize volunteer outreach efforts; Supporting volunteer recruitment and community outreach at events; Assisting with the administrative aspects of 826LA’s volunteer outreach efforts and programming.
