Skagit VISTA - Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Coordinator
 
 
 
This position is part of an 8-member VISTA team operated out of Community Action of Skagit County. Our mission is to foster and advocate for self-sufficiency among low-income people in Skagit County. The Skagit VISTA team helps achieve Community Action’s goal of helping people help themselves and each other by building infrastructure and capacity for programs that serve economically disadvantaged individuals across the county. Our partner and host agency for this position, Skagit Habitat for Humanity, is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. The primary goals of this position are to: 1) help increase public awareness of the organization within Skagit County, cultivating strong public, private and corporate partnerships 2) Improve the efficiency and reach of the current volunteer program through capacity building efforts and 3) Develop both material and financial resources to aid in stabilizing and sustaining the organization’s current volunteer programs.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work to improve the sustainability of Skagit Habitat's volunteer program by participating in the following activities: •Outreach to the community via public presentations, relationship building with community partners, and general marketing development •Improve and complete the new volunteer database, transferring all existing data to new system. •Develop resources to support fundraising efforts including creation of donor database, outreach materials, seeking grants etc. •Build the sustainability of the Habitat Helpers home repair program through development of a volunteer base and fundraising plan •Research, develop & implement Volunteer Appreciation Programs
