2018-2019 ReStore Volunteer Coordinator

Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County and ReStore is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that works both to eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. The VISTA member will develop, implement, and document a sustainable volunteer program for the Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County ReStore. By researching other volunteer programs in the state and using HFHI’s online resources, the VISTA will develop and implement a volunteer program for the Habitat ReStore that will allow the ReStore to more successfully recruit, train, and retain volunteers. A successful volunteer program will increase the Habitat ReStore’s ability to support and provide funding to Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County’s mission.Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County and ReStore is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry that works both to eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat welcomes partners from any faith – or no faith tradition – who are willing to help improve the lives of families needing safe, affordable, decent housing.Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is a nonprofit that works to eliminate housing poverty and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. This VISTA position will address Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County ReStore’s need for a successful and sustainable volunteer program that will increase the number of volunteer and the volunteer retention rate. Our current ReStore volunteer program attracts few repeat volunteers. More repeat volunteers with better training and investment in Habitat’s mission would expand the ReStore’s ability to raise money towards Habitat’s mission.

Member Duties : EXPLORATION AND RESEARCH – Explore volunteer program policies, procedures, and practices already in place. Conduct research using resources available from HFHI and by reaching out to other ReStores to find ideas for creating a successful and sustainable volunteer program at the Champaign County ReStore DEVELOPMENT – Use research conducted in previous two months to develop and document sustainable volunteer program that will best serve the needs of the Champaign County ReStore IMPLEMENTATION AND REVIEW – Implement the volunteer program developed over the past three months. Assist in managing and testing the new volunteer program along with other ReStore staff, while looking for changes that may need to be made to ensure the sustainability of the program SUSTAINABILITY – Development of manuals and training of staff and volunteers on the Champaign County ReStore volunteer program to assure its sustainability after the VISTA’s term is over.
