MNA 2017 - Alternatives For Girls #2

As a VISTA with Alternatives for Girls (AFG), you’ll help build relationships with community partners and organizations that provide educational and vocational opportunities, managing a database of those opportunities, and gathering data on participants to make sure AFG is doing all they can to help girls and young women in Detroit succeed. Compared to Michigan as a whole, almost twice as many Detroiters have not completed high school and only 13.1% of the city has a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Much of the work of the VISTA will ultimately assist AFG in helping girls and young women realize college is a viable option for them and illuminating for them that they have the potential to succeed once there.
