826 National Research & Evaluation Associate

This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at the 826 National office in San Francisco, CA. The 826 Network began providing free writing and tutoring programs for under-resourced students in 2002 when author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari founded 826 Valencia in San Francisco’s Mission district. 826 National was established in 2008 to provide strategic leadership, administration, and resources to ensure the success of its network of eight chapters. 826 National amplifies the impact of both its national network of youth writing centers and the voices of its young authors. 826 National serves as an international proof point for writing as a tool for young people to ignite and channel their creativity, explore identity, advocate for themselves and their community, and achieve academic and professional success. AmeriCorps VISTA members placed at the 826 National office in San Francisco will build the organization's capacity to provide vital infrastructure and support to eight writing and tutoring centers in Boston, Chicago, Detroit/Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, New Orleans, NYC, San Francisco, and Washington DC. VISTA members will have the opportunity to create new systems and enhance current efforts related to program development and management, professional development, fundraising, communications, and research and evaluation.
