The Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (PAARI) was founded alongside the Gloucester Police Department Angel Initiative in June 2015 and has grown into a movement of approximately 700 law enforcement partners in 34 states all implementing a non arrest pathway to treatment and access. VISTAs will help build, strengthen, and sustain police-led programs to reduce and prevent overdose deaths and help more people with opioid use disorder get into treatment and recovery. This position will understand the goals and functions of Essex County Outreach. This VISTA will set up tabling for events to provide information about available resources, such as counseling services, support groups, or helplines, tailored to the specific needs of any of the 34 communities Essex County Outreach serves. Share educational materials and resources on overdose prevention, harm reduction strategies, and steps toward recovery. Assist in developing new program initiatives, including planning, resource allocation, and implementation. This role will also be able to have phone conversations and comfortable calling individuals in the community as well as sitting in on relevant community meetings to bring back ideas to Essex County Outreach. Individuals with lived experience with addictions, including those who are personally in recovery, are encouraged to apply. During your service, you will receive a living allowance from CNCS and at the conclusion of a successful service year you will be eligible for an education award of $6,495 or a cash stipend of $1,800 *If interested in starting before the start date please let us know*
