E3.17 Lincoln Park Food Systems Development Coordinator
 
 
 
Purpose of Position: This position will expand Lincoln Park’s Stone Soup pilot project to create the ability for low-income rental households to produce and cook their own healthy food. The partnership works with local craft breweries, compost site, businesses, residents, and volunteers to create opportunities for improved health in a USDA food desert. Specific Duties: Job Relationships External: 1. Use community organizing skills to identify current projects, programs, and organizations working in Lincoln Park. 2. Work with community members and stakeholders to define program goals and plans. 3. Establish relationships with funders. 4. Build curriculum with partner organizations to provide wrap-around education on healthy food preparation. 5. Recruit volunteers and improve volunteer management systems. 6. Conduct research into best practices 7. Prepare reports to present findings, conclusions, and recommendations. 8. Present at public meetings. 9. Identify and address barriers to participation in by low-income individuals. 10. Attend staff meetings and meetings of Boards & Commissions. Internal: 1. Work with CEO and Director of Partnership Development to define duties and develop a workplan. 2. Attend VISTAs training, in-service opportunities and community programming opportunities. Qualifications Required 1. Respectful and enthusiastic communicator interested in building the skills of others. 2. Use of Microsoft Office Suite and general familiarity with social media. 3. Organizational skills, attention to details 4. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations 5. Interpersonal and communication skills 6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 7. Familiarity with issues of low income families 8. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

Member Duties : In order to address health disparities and neighborhood poverty the Big Water Resilience Corps VISTA project will build the capacity of Ecolibrium3 to advance healthy food options in the Lincoln Park Neighborhood by expanding partnerships, developing a sustainable volunteer and recruitment management system, and establishing a 5-year resource plan. 1. Establish a neighborhood solution to address access issues to healthy food through development of a starter garden program with focus on low-income rental households in Lincoln Park. 2. Develop resources to support fundraising efforts with assistance of the steering committee. 3. Extend partnerships to provide wrap-around food and nutrition education to residents.
