Alliance VISTA – NYLC Digital Community Associate

Alliance VISTAs provide indirect support and serve as capacity builders in their communities, creating, strengthening, and connecting resources and best practices to better serve youth, especially young people of color and young people living in poverty, with the ultimate goal of supporting more youth to graduate and closing the opportunity and achievement gaps in Minnesota. The Host Site, National Youth Leadership Council NYLC has empowered young people to be servant leaders in their communities for over 30 years. Beginning in 1983, NYLC has become a national leader in the development of service-learning; an approach to teaching and learning in which students use academic knowledge and skills to address genuine community needs. Our work connects us with students and youth from diverse backgrounds, educators in formal and informal learning spaces, and community partners across the nation to create a more just, sustainable, and peaceful world with young people, their schools, and their communities through service-learning. More recently our services reached over 8,000 teachers and youth, indirectly impacting 350,000 students. Complete application at www.mnyouth.net
