Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth - Youth Engagement (MLC)

Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth exists to give youth aged 10-19 in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park a chance to thrive by connecting them to quality out-of-school time opportunities. We seek to create a community in which youth experience increased graduation rates, pathways to college and career, safety and well-being. We work with 9 key partners to achieve our mission and goals. Our partners include the cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, four local school districts, Hennepin County and two local colleges. The key partnerships help the Alliance to influence policy and systems at multiple levels and make a wide ranging impact. The vision for the Youth Engagement Specialist VISTA is to build a sustainable infrastructure to increase youth engagement at the various levels of Alliance partner organizations, and to increase participation in out-of-school-time opportunities that build social-emotional skills and accelerate success. Youth engagement is a process by which youth have positive experiences and are actively engaged in their own development. Applicants from the Brooklyns with knowledge and experience working with diverse communities are preferred. Must be able to communicate clearly and set priorities with self-direction and motivation. Our VISTA will have the opportunity to engage in high quality professional development and career training that includes understanding of the social-emotional learning frameworks, facilitation skills, public speaking, youth engagement, youth work, quality program design and assessment, systems building and policy impact. This role will connect the VISTA to various career opportunities with the Alliance partners and networks after the VISTA service ends with our organization. Additional benefit includes housing assistance in the form of a stipend.
