A Homeless Crisis Response System

This VISTA member will work primarily with local partners in increasing the capacity, collaboration, and effectiveness of specific county plans to address homelessness, along with MDHI support and oversight. Available VISTA opportunities are with: Aurora Ready to Work program working to support community and volunteer engagement, communications efforts, improving donor relationships, opportunities, and supporting collaboration across the city of Aurora and the metro Denver region towards ending homelessness; (3) positions with MDHI building out and standing up regional councils and committees within a new continuum-wide governance structure. These will provide opportunities for continuous feedback among the MDHI staff, Board of Directors, and a wide variety of stakeholders to spur further action towards the goal of ending homelessness. VISTAs will serve as county or city-specific capacity building supports as well as liaisons to the Continuum of Care that is MDHI. VISTA is a program to build capacity and expand the scope, reach, and sustainability of projects; they are not direct service with those experiencing homelessness. As part of the project, Homeless Crisis Response System, AmeriCorps VISTA members will collaborate with MDHI and other community partners to support the integration of a regional approach to ending homelessness. This entails local and regional community engagement, supporting agencies to become more effective and sustainable partners within the system while integrating the principles of housing first and person-centered approaches and utilizing data to drive improvement. VISTA Members work with stakeholders and partner organizations to encourage cross-sector collaboration and the build-out of a Homeless Crisis Response system with a goal of ending homelessness in our region and a vision that everyone in Metro Denver has a safe, stable place to call home.
