A Youth Homelessness Migrant Education VISTA

VISTA Member must speak Spanish at the good or excellent level to be considered. The VISTAs will work tangentially with State Coordinators of Homeless Education, Migrant Programming, and Foster Care. Enhancing the cross collaboration between education and other state agencies will reduce gaps in services and provide access to programming that promotes self-sufficiency. School districts are mandated to assign the positions of Homeless Liaisons, CWELs, and Migrant advocates, however, the capacity for these positions to fulfill their duties can be a challenge. The VISTAs will engage directly with these positions to enhance programmatic success and educational advancement for students. Specific duties to include: providing administrative support to data collection and evaluation but will not have access to personally identifiable student information, gathering of resources to increase access to higher education, collection of “Best Practices” models, Equity Toolkit for Administrators, Resource Guide for Communities, and creation of standardized intake process.
