PRC- Kalispell HEART Program

The HEART Program is a nonprofit organization that works hard to meet the needs of students in Kalispell School Districts #5 and #50, whom are struggling with homelessness. The HEART Program consists of three parts: The HEART Locker, The HEART Markets, and the HEART Fund. The HEART Program VISTA will develop a strong volunteer and community network to increase access to the items homeless and struggling students need to attend and be successful in school. The member will help build the infrastructure needed to recruit a team of 15 steady volunteers for the Locker, perform outreach and develop in-kind donations and support from local churches and business for the Markets, as well as assist in securing $9,000 through fundraising and grant writing. Through this member’s service the HEART program will be able to better serve the more than 250 students currently enrolled, as well as expand the service area to the much smaller feeder school districts in Kalispell. Providing students in need with clothing, school supplies, personal hygiene products, and food to eat at home and over the weekends increases their likelihood of graduating from both high school and poverty.
