Tougaloo College Community Health Corps
 
 
 
The Community Health Corps will help the OHWC achieve the following project goals: 1) promote health education and chronic disease prevention within low-income communities in up to 17 counties served by the OHWC; 2) increase the outreach and service capacity of the OHWC and within the tri-county service area: Hinds, Madison, and Rankin counties, and 3) create a state-wide community health worker database which will be made available to providers throughout Mississippi.

Member Duties : Activities in which the Community Health Corps will perform include: 1) creating awareness among the community about health, organizing health-related events, disseminating and tracking health information; 2) strengthening and/or expanding its primary care and dental health programs which serve low-income individuals of all ages, and 3) developing the Community Health Workers (CHW) Resource Guide to help reduce health disparities by connecting physicians who serve low-income people to community health workers who help physicians improve patient outcomes.
