YWCA Greater Baton Rouge

We Create Real Change YWCA Greater Baton Rouge works to accomplish two important community and social goals: Eliminate Racism and Empower Women. Through our dedicated and tireless efforts, we hope to change the odds for East Baton Rouge Parish families, supporting opportunities for otherwise vulnerable people to live with dignity and decency. Join the Mission Through support from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the YWCA is searching for self-motivated and passionate people ready to spend a year in service to their community. As a VISTA service member, you’ll join thousands of others, in a nationwide community working to help families press back against the potential of poverty. With that, the YWCA is searching for candidates that want to develop skills in: • Critical Thinking – the ability to step outside one’s self to consider how other people view the world. • Continuous Learning – the desire to grow in knowledge and experience, to take on new challenges while seeking out advice and guidance from other people. • Service – that core element, shared by CNCS, that asks us to make the small and daily sacrifices for other people, the commitment to the tireless work of making the community better and breaking the cycle of poverty. These are the attributes we ask from applicants, and our commitment – as an organization – is to create a VISTA experience in which these commitments are respected and cherished. This involves the opportunity of meaningful work, the space to take risks and make mistakes, the recognition of your brilliance and potential, and providing significant support to your personal, professional development (and future) goals.
