The City of Shawnee Homeless Program invites the best and the brightest to come, not merely to observe, but to join us as active and trusted members of our team as we work to end homelessness. We are seeking an individual with a background in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Case Management, Ministry, Healthcare, or related fields to assist us with building our Homeless Program. The project we are hiring for is the Shawnee Homeless Healthcare Project. There is an inextricable link between homelessness/poverty and healthcare. The objective for this VISTA will be removing barriers to healthcare and expanding healthcare options for those experiencing homelessness. Desired Skills • Well organized • Strong attention to detail • Highly motivated and able to work independently • Ability to work as a part of a diverse team • Relationship building and community outreach • Strong written and verbal communication skills Qualifications • College undergraduate students in the fields we are looking for are invited to apply. • Individuals with experience working in these fields are also invited to apply.

Member Duties : EXPLORATION: Research and identify healthcare options for those experiencing homelessness. Document research and communicate findings and gain further direction to move forward. DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS: Establish and build partnerships with primary care clinics, health care providers, DHS, etc. DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION: Based on the information gathered, develop a strategy that will address healthcare disparities and solutions for the homeless population.
