CMP 9R Program Development Assistant
 
 
 
The Program Development Assistant will be based at the Durango School District in Durango, CO. Durango, the largest town in southwest Colorado, is nestled among the San Juan Mountains with the Animas River running through town. The area has a small ski resort, rafting, mountain and road biking, hiking, and camping. The sun shines close to 300 days out of the year. The community is said to have more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, is home to a 4-year college, and offers many cultural experiences through musical venues, art galleries, and theater. The La Plata County Collaborative Management Program (CMP) is a collaborative of youth-serving agencies who work together to identify gaps in the community and then create innovative, collaborative responses to better address the needs of at-risk youth in La Plata County. Behavioral Health Support Services, Durango School District 9R encompasses mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs, as well as student safety, crisis prevention, intervention, and after care. Behavior Health Support Services was established to effect positive behavioral change in students and provide supportive interventions to families and/or students.

Member Duties : The VISTA will support program development through research, community outreach, and systems building. Member duties include: 1.) Identify service gaps for at-risk youth in La Plata County and Durango School District 9R students with mental health needs by researching available data and participating in needs assessments with participating agencies. 2.) Research evidence-based and evidence-informed practices to help identify programming to address service gaps. Research may also include surveys and interviews with various target populations. 3.) Create presentations of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices in order to vet ideas with collaborative members, school based teams, and the community-at-large. 4.) Develop policies and systems related to CMP and the Durango School District programs
