*PRC - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Park County

The goal of this project is to increase academic engagement and improve student performance through a site based mentoring program in Gardiner Public Schools. Having a positive, nurturing adult role model is one of the most effective protective factors for children with ACEs. Big Brothers Big Sister’s Mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. This VISTA project will move low-income and at-risk youth out of poverty by creating infrastructure for a school-based mentoring program in Gardiner, MT, resulting at-risk youth that are living in poverty in a very rural area, access to mentor services that help them create connection to community and a positive future for themselves. This VISTA project will be placed in beautiful Livingston, MT, located near Yellowstone National Park, with easy access to skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and fishing.
