*PRC – Adult Protective Services

The goal of this project is to increase access to healthcare for seniors living in poverty and/or on fixed incomes by enhancing the reporting system and developing training and education programs for community stakeholders and citizens on abuse, neglect and exploitation. In 2018, Adult Protective Services (APS) received over 8,000 calls to report abuse, neglect, and exploitation. When vulnerable adults are abused, neglected, or exploited, it has serious detrimental effects on their health and wellbeing. These effects diminish not only their health but also their limited financial assets, which leads them to being institutionalized under a government system which can cause severe health problems, loss of assets, impoverishment, and possibly premature death. Located in beautiful Helena, Montana’s state capital and the “Queen City of the Rockies,” the VISTA serving with Adult Protective Services will have easy access to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, an expansive trail system, and endless opportunities to explore the outdoors through hiking, biking, fishing, and skiing in the heart of Big Sky Country!
