Bridge to propserity youth mentoring

The ICRI AmeriCorps Program pairs passionate service members with refugee and immigrant youth aged 10-21 to provide comprehensive mentorship and support. Each AmeriCorps member is assigned a caseload of 10 youth, meeting weekly for at least 2 hours to offer social, emotional, and academic guidance tailored to individual goals. Founded in 1994, AmeriCorps addresses critical community needs while preparing members for careers in public, private, or nonprofit sectors. Our program focuses on cultural adaptation, academic achievement, and social-emotional development through mentoring in diverse environments including schools, libraries, parks, cultural events, and youth homes. Members participate in mandatory pre-service training and ongoing professional development throughout their year of service. Beyond individual mentoring, they engage in national service events like 9/11 Day of Remembrance, MLK Day, and AmeriCorps Week, plus occasional weekend community service projects. Key responsibilities include implementing mentorship interventions, setting and supporting youth goals, maintaining accurate electronic and paper records, and connecting youth to scholarships, tutoring, and educational resources. Members serve up to 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling to accommodate youth needs and school calendars. The program seeks individuals with high school diplomas, preferably some college experience, who are at least 20 years old with clean backgrounds. Valid driver's licenses and experience with diverse populations are preferred. Members must pass comprehensive background checks including FBI fingerprinting and drug testing. This opportunity offers professional development, mileage reimbursement, and the chance to make lasting impacts on young lives while building valuable career experience in community service.
