17-18 Iowa Campus Compact - Prevent Child Abuse Iowa
 
 
 
Iowa Campus Compact is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public role of higher education. We provide services to our members that enhance their ability to engage students, staff, and faculty in their communities including professional development opportunities, technical assistance, networking, grants and other programming. The 2017-2018 IACC VISTA Program will work to build partnerships between our member campuses and their community partners in an effort to build capacity and alleviate poverty in relation to education and economic opportunity.

Member Duties : The VISTA partners will work with PCA Iowa and the Iowa Trauma Informed Prevention and Care coordinator to expand the current project beyond central Iowa. Two VISTA partners will identify communities ready to implement a response to Adverse Childhood Experiences. VISTA members will work in over-lapping three-year periods in at least four Iowa communities to build literacy, capacity, implementation, and sustainability of the project. Each community would be asked to mentor another Iowa community in the implementation of a Connections Matter community framework to further support the work and strengthen community connection. VISTA partners will work with various IACC members as committee members and advisors to this project. Working with employees of the University of Iowa National Research Center for Family Practice needed trainings will be determined and provided.
