17-18 Iowa Campus Compact - Cedar Rapids Public Library
 
 
 
Cedar Rapids Public Library is part of Iowa Campus Compact (IACC). IACC is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public role of higher education. We provide services to our members that enhance their ability to engage students, staff, and faculty in their communities including professional development opportunities, technical assistance, networking, grants and other programming. The 2017-18 IACC VISTA Program will work to build partnerships between our member campuses and their community partners in an effort to build capacity and alleviate poverty in relation to education and economic opportunity. While IACC VISTA positions are located across the state of Iowa, Cedar Rapids Public Library is in Cedar Rapids.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will focus on expanding and improving the development and delivery of all aspects of the Cedar Rapids Public Library’s summer reading program. The VISTA member will also evaluate the efficacy of all aspects of the Summer Dare programs, the different programs’ capacities for continued growth, and opportunities for reaching more students in poverty. He/she will serve on the Summer Learning Committee for Reading into Success, the community’s local Campaign for Grade Level Reading initiative, to further develop reading interventions to combat the summer learning slide.
