*PRC - Anaconda Community Intervention
 
 
 
According to the Anaconda Community Needs Assessment put on in 2018 by the Anaconda Public Health Department, 27% of Anaconda residents live in poverty. The most current Youth Risk Behavior survey shows that 39% of Anaconda High School students have drank alcohol and Anaconda has a high population of youth living in poverty with high levels of substance use. Because of the 2018 Anaconda Public Health Department Community Health Needs Assessment, the services and programs and services that Anaconda Community Intervention have been deemed critical to Anaconda’s health and wellness. This VISTA project will ensure the long term sustainability of these programs by developing a sustainable funding structure for ACI. Located in the town of Anaconda, the VISTA serving at this site will have excellent access to hiking, skiing, fishing, and a short drive to Yellowstone National Park.

Member Duties : The VISTA will increase access to healthcare services by strengthening community support and funding to sustain education and prevention services in Anaconda aimed at reducing substance use, including opioid abuse, among low-income youth. The VISTA will assess program needs and current funding structure. The VISTA will develop a strategic plan for community buy in and support. Finally, the VISTA will identify and apply for local funding resources as well as apply for program grants.
