*Goodwill*-Tree Street Youth BRANCHES-Lewiston, ME

The Multilingual Leadership Corps AmeriCorps Program will place AmeriCorps members in Maine schools and nonprofit organizations serving K-12 English Language Learners, concentrating on the areas of greater Portland and Lewiston/Auburn. This program will increase academic engagement among English Language Learners through School Skills Support, Mentoring, Aspirations (high school and college prep), and Community Engagement programs. --- Tree Street Youth is young non-profit organization located in the Downtown “Tree Street Neighborhoods”. Our mission is to support the youth of Lewiston-Auburn through Academics, The Arts, and Athletics. We provide youth with a safe place that encourages healthy physical, social, emotional, and academic development. Since opening our doors we have served over 600 youth grades K-12 throughout our various programs. Each day during our current after school program we serve between 120-150 youth of significantly diverse backgrounds. Approximately 65% of youth are from immigrant and refugee families and the remaining 35% of youth live in generational poverty. Our school year programming consists of after school tutoring/mentoring, arts and athletic enrichment, the StreetLeader internship/college prep program, and various other social and emotional supports for youth and families. --- The BRANCHES (Becoming Responsible Adults ‘N Cultivating Higher Education Success) Program works with youth in elementary, middle, high school, and beyond to guide students through the steps to exploring, discovering, and achieving their future educational and professional goals. Through three different focuses of programming—College Prep, Career Readiness, and Early College Exploration—BRANCHES aims to increase the overall graduation, college acceptance, and college retention rates of at-risk, first-generation students in Lewiston-Auburn, Maine.
