CRC - Rockingham Community Action - New Hampshire

Rockingham Community Action (RCA) has been dedicated to helping people in need in Rockingham County for over 40 years. We provide a full array of basic and critical services aimed at assisting households through crisis and moving towards self sufficiency. You can visit our agency website at: www.rcaction.org In May of 2008, RCA brought together several people from the nutrition field, statewide food providers and programming and web design professionals to help create the framework for a regional network of emergency food providers. This was done in response to the increasing demand for emergency food, and an emergency food provider system which is characterized by individual stand alone providers. Our mission is to convert this system to a functional cooperative network of emergency food providers who work together to improve capacity and respond quickly to demands for emergency food in a county wide region. In order to achieve this, we have developed a website which will help us paint a regional picture that will point out need areas, while also showing where our resources are and how to match them up. Because many of the emergency food providers are volunteer managed, and not all providers have computer access/skills, we determined that we will need to either train and support these vols., or recruit some vol. advocates who will be responsible to gather and report these statistics on a monthly basis. For this, we need a coordinator to do this as well as undertake a recruitment process of all 60+ emergency food providers in our region. This coordinator would work with 1 or 2 other staffers to assist as needed during the 11 month project. In addition, the chair of the Emergency Food Providers Network will oversee the project, and work closely with the coordinator to create a work plan, and to evaluate our efforts.
