Disaster Workforce Engagement, AmeriCorps Disaster Team
 
 
 
The Disaster Workforce Engagement department plays a pivotal role in onboarding new volunteers, establishing relationships with and engaging current volunteers, and maintaining a trained and ready workforce for when disaster strikes. Members will prepare community members for disasters, respond to local and state-wide emergencies, and support the recovery of community members who have been affected by disasters. Members will serve approximately 40 hours per week for a total of 900 service hours in a 5.5-month term. Benefits include a bi-weekly stipend of $782.61, health and dental coverage, and childcare assistance to those who qualify. Upon successful completion, members will receive an education award of $3,172.50 to use towards qualified student loans, or future tuition, and may qualify for federal student loan forbearance during the period of service.

Member Duties : We are looking for self-motivated and passionate individuals to join the California AmeriCorps Disaster Team. The member placed in the Disaster Workforce Engagement department is responsible for overseeing “The Volunteer Experience” for disaster volunteers. This involves recruiting and onboarding new volunteers, aiding volunteer career development and serving as a point of contact for volunteers reassigned to other departments. Members of the Disaster Team are required to deploy at the behest of the California Service Commission for as many as three weeks at a time and within 48 hours' notice. All expenses are covered.
