FRYSC Corps
 
 
 
FRYSC Corps members are based in Family Resource and Youth Services Centers. Full and half time members act as reading coaches, and may work with students from kindergarten through the 12th grade who are at risk for academic failure. Members plan and host literacy events. In addition to reading, members may also be asked to tutor in other academic subjects. FRYSC Corps support their host FRYSC addressing their goal to help remove barriers to basic needs that prevent students from learning, service is focused to meet specific community needs. FRYSC Corps members are also asked to support their host school community by recruiting and managing 10 volunteers to support FRYSC and school programs. FRYSC Corps minimum time youth members are required to support FRYSC programming and address food insecurity. 1700, 1200, 900 hour and 300 hour positions available

Member Duties : Literacy Tutors * Works with assigned at-risk for academic failure students as a reading tutor. *Coaches students in identifying reading resources that fit their interests. *Addresses food insecurity service community. *Seeks opportunities to serve the school and other community organizations. *Participates in Make a Difference Day, MLK Day of Service & AmeriCorps Week. *Recruits and/or manages 10 volunteers. *Speaks to civic organizations about experience in AmeriCorps service. *Occasional overnight travel required for program required training. *Reliable transportation required *Occasional travel to program required meetings. Youth Service Corps *Addresses food insecurity service community. *Seeks opportunities to serve the school and other community organizations. *Recruits and/or manages volunteers. *Speaks to civic organizations about experience in AmeriCorps service. *Participates in required meetings.
